As far as I understand it, if Parliament had voted for an election, Johnson could then have set the date – so he could have simply put it off until the UK had exited the EU without a deal. This is why Parliament voted against it.
Politians and the rich think they are a protective species, they must remember they are out numbered by 5 billion + and take into account people power will always prevail .
