With Cayman’s border reopening projected for March, property owners and businesses impacted by beach loss along Seven Mile Beach are racing against the clock to ready themselves to receive clients.

Cayman’s courts continue to be plagued by a backlog of cases and a lack of courtrooms, which is now jeopardising the rights of many defendants to have their cases heard in a prompt and timely manner, Chief Justice Anthony Smellie said at Wednesday’s official opening of Grand Court.

Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a machete attack in George Town on New Year’s Eve. A video of the attack has been circulating on social media.
