Putin changes Russia’s obligations on nuclear test ban

By revoking its ratification of the Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, Russia is restoring parity with the US, the Kremlin has said Russia has downgraded its participation in the 1996 Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) to the status of a signatory. President Vladimir Putin signed the change into law on Thursday, revoking Moscow’s ratification.

EU ramped up Russian coal imports before ban – media

EU member states imported 28% more coal from Russia between March and May compared with the same period last year, Vedomosti newspaper reported on Tuesday. The European Union’s ban on Russian coal came into force on Wednesday.
